About Lakewood Heights
Located between Skillman Avenue and Abrams Blvd and comprised of eleven east-west streets, from Monticello on the north and Richmond on the south, Lakewood Heights is known for its mature trees, active neighborhood association, great walkability and biking, and close proximity to Lakewood Shopping Center, Tietze Park, and White Rock Lake.
The historic Lakewood Shopping Center features a variety of unique shopping and services, including great restaurants, neighborhood pubs, music venues, and the deco-era Lakewood Theater.
Tietze Park offers a public pool, shaded picnic areas, playgrounds, and lighted sport courts and fields. Neighborhood and community events are frequently scheduled in the park throughout the year by the very active Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association and the Friends of Tietze Park Foundation.
Lakewood Heights celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013. Despite its age, the neighborhood isn’t a historical preservation district, so there are a variety of homes available, including 1920s bungalows, historic Tudors, and also Mediterranean and modern designs.
Lakewood Heights is just five minutes from the DART Mockingbird Station, which provides entertainment venues and regional train access to downtown, the Dallas Zoo, and more. Just ten minutes from downtown Dallas, Lakewood Heights offers fast and easy access to work and entertainment centers in the central business district, Deep Ellum, the West End, American Airlines Center, and the Dallas Arts District.
